A Message from Executive Director George Pantos
Entering its third year, the Institute proudly looks back on a solid record of progress in changing the way enterprise leaders THINK about managing their health plans.
Based on proven business principles that incorporate best practices in data driven analytics, predictive modeling, health metrics and dashboards, the Healthcare Performance Management discipline is making a game-changing difference in reining in escalating healthcare costs and improving workforce health outcomes.
Relying 100 percent on cloud-based technology and innovative Web-based software tools, a growing number of private firms in 2011 successfully achieved a major shift in the human resource mission from a tactical to a strategic focus.
By leveraging healthcare data to improve plan performance, nearly 300 firms that embraced the HPM business discipline reported favorable progress in promoting a high-performing, healthier workforce and maximizing bottom-line results. These results, and a summary of 2011 projects, are outlined in the Institute’s First Annual Report which will be available later this month.
In the private sector, the 2012 agenda features a continuation of the Institute’s educational, research and informational mission as well as several new initiatives. A new white paper focused on ROI will analyze the cost/benefit aspects of investments in HPM strategies. Performance engagement at the individual and workforce levels compared with performance not similarly engaged will be examined.
A series of surveys of human resource professionals who measure key variables that impact healthcare costs and outcomes will also be initiated. These surveys will measure HPM strategies designed to reduce costs including engagement and automation trends. A new education and certification program for users of cloud management services also will be introduced in 2012.
In the public sector, the Institute will look at how HPM cloud-based management systems can have a positive effect on federal, state and local governments in lowering healthcare costs while providing timely solutions in implementing new health reform challenges.
